What are we?

The Life Odysseys Society is a non-profit organisation founded in 2006 and headquartered in Ancient Olympia in Greece. Our mission statement is to support and further selected cultural, educational and environmental projects and programmes.

Who are we?

The Life Odysseys Society Co-Founding and Administrative Council members are:

Zoë Robinson, President

ZoëMs. Robinson was born and raised in England and then lived for many years in the United States, twenty of which were in Hawaii. She is a non-denominational minister and mentor and a confessed philhellene with a particular interest in Ancient Greek culture. Some years ago Ms. Robinson moved to Greece and became a resident of Ancient Olympia. She likes to describe herself by telling this story.  "On my many visits to the different archeological sites in Greece people would stop and ask, are you an archeologist? One day, frustrated by having to say no, I blurted out, I'm not an archeologist per se, I am an archeologist of the soul. It just seems to fit!"

Gillian Bouras, Vice President

GillianMrs. Bouras, a teacher and writer, was born in Melbourne in 1945, and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from the University of Melbourne. In 1980 she moved from Australia to Greece with her family. She has three sons, two of whom were born in Melbourne; the youngest was born in Athens. Her journalism has been published in five countries, and she has written eight books: A Foreign Wife (1986), A Fair Exchange (1991), and No Time for Dances (2006), all published by Penguin Books Australia. A novel for children, Saving Christmas, (2000) is published by the University of Queensland Press; Hachette/Lothian publishes Aphrodite Alexandra (2007). She lives in the Peloponnese, Greece, and visits Australia at irregular intervals.

Evi Makri, Secretary/Treasurer

EviMs. Makri was born and raised in Athens. She has worked as a guardian at the archeological sites of Delos and the Ancient Agora in Athens, and as an Art Conservationist in Eleusis and the Prehistoric Museum of Thira on Santorini. She currently holds a position in customer service in the medical supplies department for an international company in Athens. Her present studies are in Spanish Literature at the University of Athens. Ms. Makri says she supports The Life Odysseys Society because she wants to help keep dreaming a better dream for humanity.
